Travel advice for this country
- Spain’s two largest trades unions are calling for large scale public demonstrations and industrial actions across Spain throughout July and August. Public demonstrations in Madrid and other city centres may affect local services and travellers are advised to check for transport delays before arriving in Spain and allow extra time for transfers to and from airports. We recommend British nationals stay clear of demonstrations and avoid confrontation at all times.
- The National Travel health Network and Centre (NaTHNaC) has posted an update in relation to cases of Legionnaires disease associated with travel to the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe.
- There has been an increase in seismic activity on the island of El Hierro, Canary Islands. The risk level for the towns of El Julan and La Dehesa has been raised to amber as a precautionary measure, the rest of the island remains at green. Check the Canary Government website for updates on the situation. See Natural Disasters - volcanoes.
- There have been a number of deaths recently as a result of falls from balconies. Do not take any unnecessary risks, especially when under the influence of drink or drugs. It is unlikely that your travel insurance will cover you for such incidents. See Safety and Security – Balcony Falls.
- Over 12 million British nationals visit Spain every year (source: Instituto de Estudios Turísticos), making it one of the most-visited countries by Britons in the world. Most visits are trouble-free, but there are instances where support from our Consulates is needed. See General - Consular Assistance - Statistics.
- 112 is the number for emergency services. Click here for a list of emergency expressions in Spanish.
- There is a general threat from terrorism. British nationals are not considered a specific target, but attacks could happen in places visited by expatriates and tourists.
- You should apply for a free European Health Insurance Card to be eligible for state provided medical treatment that may become necessary during your trip. You should also take out comprehensive travel and medical insurance before travelling to help cover any unexpected costs such as medical bills or stolen belongings. Take enough medication and money to cover any unforeseen extended stays or emergencies. See the Health section for more information.
- Be alert to the existence of street crime. Thieves tend to target money and passports so don’t keep them all in one place and keep a photocopy (or scanned copy) of your passport somewhere safe. See Safety and Security - Crime for more information.
- Print our pocket sized advice leaflet and wallet card before your visit to Spain. The documents contain travel tips, numbers and expressions you may need in an emergency and information on what our Consulates can and can’t do to help.
Are you happy or sad?

Will we ever....?
Os dejo el enlace con la página www.bbc.com en la que hay muchísimas cosas interesantes y podéis encontrar una sección llamada Will we ever...?.
En éste caso, Will we ever find life elsewhere in the universe ?
Navegad por la página y no dejar que lo haga Sergio solo. ¡Luego cuando jugamos al Trivial os quejáis de que se lo sabe todo!
The idea of aliens may seem absurd. But times change, as does science, says Phil Plait, and this makes the idea far more plausible than it once appeared.
